Elsie Tamalo
My name is Elsie Tamalo I have 3 beautiful adult children, I spent most of my life in the areas of Grey Lynn, Avondale, Wattle downs and now residing more central.
I first studied with The Open Poly Technic while my kids were still babies and gained a Business Certificate and a Diploma in Business. After my children started school, I went to work at AUT for the Faculty of Business in 2000. I started in customer services for a couple of years and then took up part time studies for my Bachelor of Business Degree. It was a long journey balancing family life, work, studies and bringing up my family, but I got there in the end and graduated in 2013. My children went on to also graduate in the areas of Graphic Design & Animation and Sport and Recreation – one still currently studying Law.
I remained working for AUT for many years now. I’ve been seconded into a few roles outside my expertise but came back to what I really loved doing and that was supporting students focusing mainly on our Pasifika and Māori whanau. My current role is in Quality Assurance/Admissions &Credit Assessments including Course Advice Coordination.
